Please remember that you are applying for an extremely competitive training.
Many outstanding cadets will be applying and you need to show the IEP Selection Committee your stuff. You must set yourself apart from the others by demonstrating through your application your dedication to not only the NSCC but to yourself.
Please read everything on the application website carefully. Any forgotten information will disqualify your application. Since this training is for mature young adults, it is expected that you will have complete control over your application and will follow directions to the letter. This is not to make things difficult for you – only to show that you are capable of following directions and presenting yourself in a positive light. If you are selected you will be doing this every moment on your trip abroad. Good Luck!
Our Application Window for Staffing Our Inbound Exchange is Open!
We are looking for six cadets and three officers to staff our inbound training in Newport, Rhode Island. This training will run from 24 June through 7 July.
The inbound exchange is designed as an ambassadorial program involving cadets from countries in the International Sea Cadet Association. Past participants have included Canada, United Kingdom, Bermuda, Sweden, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Korea, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. It provides U.S. cadets with an excellent opportunity to interact with cadets from other countries and be “goodwill ambassadors” for the United States. The program is designed to instill teamwork and understanding in a casual environment. Commanding Officers should encourage outstanding cadets to apply for this once in a lifetime opportunity to help escort cadets from other countries around Newport, Boston and New York City. (NOTE: There will be no outbound exchanges in 2018.
Deadline for our inbound exchange:
Adults: April 15
- Cadets: April 15
There are no exceptions for being late. After the deadline, all applications are locked and cannot be accessed. Application information may not be mailed, faxed or emailed under any circumstances. Only applications submitted via the online application site will be considered.
For outbound international exchanges, additional travel insurance will be quoted by the IEP Travel Manager. Participants must purchase the policy which should be less than $80 for cadets and slightly more for officers/instructors. Cost is based on age, destination and length of stay. Participants must agree to reimburse the NSCC for the cost of airfare for covered cancellations, but retain all the benefits of additional medical, dental, and emergency travel costs. The NSCC insurance purchased at enrollment/re-enrollment will be secondary to this policy. Travel insurance is not necessary for cadets and adults staffing the inbound exchange.
